A big thank you Cristina for telling us the whole story of this stunning old emerald parure, especially the huge bow brooch. It is reported that it is worth of 300 carats emerald having a deep green colour, fabulous indeed. You are so lucky for having seen it in live !
--Previous Message-- : That's the one, thank you so much Alejandro, : I'd never seen this picture of Queen Maria : Pia, known as the "most glamourous : Queen of Europe" in her days. : : Well, I didn't call it : "disgusting", I just call it : something like a bit "ugly" imo of : course... . Such a poor design (specially : the tiara) to reset such splendid stones... : as I said, I've seen them live years ago and : they are indeed fabulous stones, huge, of a : deep green colour and considered as being of : the highest quality. : : It seems from the picture that the parure : also included a bracelet. It looks like the : bigger emeralds were dismantled from the : XVIIIth century corsage bow (in portuguese : "laça de peito") and just lined up : on a frame with a diamond on top and three : in between each of the emeralds. For the : necklace, seven of the smaller emeralds were : added a diamond at the bottom and suspended : from one of the diamond riviéres of the : royal house, the same design being used in : the earrings. The bracelet seems like the : remaining emeralds simply lined up. : : : : --Previous Message-- : Is this the "disgusting" emerald : set? : : : : Regards! : : : : :
