And if you look carefully at Ursula's link at the photo of Alexandra you can see she is wearing the shorter pearl and emerald bead necklace with the oval diamond Prince of Wales feathers pendant and its emerald drop suspended from it.

    : Thank you Boffer.
    :
: Looking at the picture of the gift to
: Princess Alice, compared to today´s
: necklace, I believe the Duchess has placed
: the two original emerald pendants on either
: side of one pendant from the brooch. The
: pendants on the original necklace were
: slightly bigger than the three pendants on
    : the corsage brooch.
    :
: The other two pendants from the brooch are
: probably used to make the earrings.
    :
: Does the Duchess ever wear the brooch?

: No, this necklace contains emeralds and
    : pearls.
    :
: It was later part of the wedding gifts to
: Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester in
    : 1935.
    :
    :
    :
: Since then, the current Duchess has
: rearranged the bears in the necklace to
: create one strand of emerald beads separated
: by pearls, with the pendants from the
    : corsage brooch attached.
    :
    :
    :
: It is believed that the original necklace,
: as worn by Queen Mary, was remodelled from
: Queen Alexandra's Indian Emerald Necklace,
: which she received as a wedding-gift from
    : Queen Victoria in 1863.
