There's no need to purchase grand parures and huge tiaras anylonger. Occassions where they can be worn are so few so why bother really. Meanwhile the Dutch Royals have more than a dozen tiaras at their disposal. Admitted, some are not very grand or striking but it's a substantial, very historic and priceless collection nonetheless. And I am not even mentioning the necklaces, brooches, bracelets etc. Also overlooked are the many jewels Queen Juliana and in particular Queen Beatrix acquired. These are all privately owned. Not tiaras or diamond necklaces mind you but very expensive jewellery nonetheless. The Emerald tiara can easily be topped with two more oval emerald and diamond clusters - which were originally placed there - to create a fuller look if HM so desires. The last 10 years we have seen that HM and her daughters in law prefer to make the most of the collection. Old frames are reset, new settings have been created and new combinations tried out. I applaud that! --Previous Message-- : The House of Orange could really use a more : striking emerald parure. : : --Previous Message-- : There are indeed only a few minor additions : but on the other hand, they have plenty of : extremly rich parures and demi-parures. They : almost have a demi-parure in every stone. : : Plus....why spent money on jewels when you : have nearly no occassions to wear them! : There are not that much occassions when : tiaras can be worn and only the family of : the Prince of Orange is invited to state : visits. I can understand Prince Bernhard Jr. : for not buying a paure or tiare because : there is simply no occassion that his wife : could wear them. : : :
