Thank you Cristina for expanding on the posting. Marina certainly had a rich trove of jewels.

I do think Marina was a goddaughter to Queen Mary, as well as future daughter in law and that might have accounted for Queen Mary's generosity.

    Her mother

: Without question Marina was one of the most
: elegant and regal ladies of her generation.
: Also her sisters. She had in her possession
: some remarkable pieces of jewelry, that she
    : wore very gracefully:
    :
: - the saphire parure (wedding gift from her
: mother-in-law Queen Mary. It was the only
: complete parure she gave to a
: daughter-in-law. But Marina was the only of
: her daughters-in-law who was born a royal
    : princess.)
    :
: - the fringe diamond tiara (wedding gift
: from the city of London. Unlike other
: fringes it is rigid and cannot be worn as
    : necklace.)
    :
: - the diamond and pearl snake set (I believe
: also a wedding gift, from her mother)
    :
: - the big bow brooch (a gift from Nicholas
    : II to Gdss Helen)
    :
: - the big diamond chandeleer earrings
    :
: - the festoon diamond and pearl tiara
    :
: - pearls from Gdss Vladimir
    :
: - an array of several beautiful rubi and
: saphire pieces (brooches, earrings), some
: now worn by Pss Michael
    :
: ... just some of the pieces I remember this
: stunning lady wear. Thank you for this
    : remembrance.
