I did not realize until now that I forgot to include some information about the ladies and gentlemen who attended this ball on July 2, 1897.

Source: "New York Tribune" (dated July 3, 1897).

I already mentioned earlier this about the Prince of Wales (later Edward VII).

PRINCE OF WALES (later Edward VII):

He dressed as Knight Hospitalier in black velvet with Maltese Crosses in white satin on his cloak and a satin brocade doublet. Velvet trunks slashed with black satin and high crowned hat with a large Maltese Cross in diamonds in front and white ostrich plumes at the back. Around the hat was a silver chain. High boots which matched the costume.

What I forgot to include is this following information:

PRINCESS OF WALES (later Queen Alexandra):

As La Reine Margot, she had a brilliant array of train-bearers. She wore a Paris-made gown of white and gold with Elizabethan ruff and heavy white train fully embroidered with gold, silver and colored jewels. Attending her were her 3 daughters and the Duchess of York.

DUCHESS OF YORK (later Queen Mary):

She was in a pale blue dress embroidered in silver with a high collar gleaming with diamonds.

DUKE OF YORK (later George V):

As George Clifford, Earl of Cumberland, he wore an Elizabethan costume of pale grey velvet and satin bordered with terra cotta bands, on which there were pearls and diamonds set in gold.

    GRAND DUKE MICHAEL OF RUSSIA:

As King Henry IV, he was dressed in outfits in black and gold and puffed with white satin.

    DUCHESS OF CONNAUGHT:

Acting as a lady in the court of King Charles II, she wore an outfit in flowered brocade and shaded apricot velvet.

    PRINCESS VICTORIA OF WALES:

She was dressed in blue and silver befitting a lady of the Elizabethan court.

    DUCHESS OF TECK:

She was acting as the Electress of Hanover (which I assume would be Princess Sophia, granddau. of James I).

    COUNTESS HELENA VON GLEICHEN:

She was dressed as Joan of Arc in armor.

    The End.
