What's missing here are indeed grander ruby and diamond earrings. 
Queen Silvia has the impressive modern set of cabochon rubies, but those pieces (see at the bottom) are simply incompatible with historic pieces.
On one single occasion (the Imperial dinner during a 2007 state visit to Japan), she also used the large ruby brooch as pendant on the diamond collet necklace of the Grand Duchess of Baden, Queen Viktoria’s mother, to match the ruby tiara – not a bad idea either:
