According to Swedish Court Jeweler Bolin, the piece remains convertible - the tiara could be taken any time off the frame and be worn alternatively as necklace. If one compares the length of the necklace on Queen Louise versus the King's sisters, it's obvious that it was already altered before to make it easier to wear by removing a few elements. Perhaps part of the brooches originate from this alteration. There's also a second necklace pendant which might come from the longer necklace version, as far as I know only seen once on CP Victoria at Princess Märtha Louise of Norway's wedding - see pic at the bottom. online photo storage --Previous Message-- : If the Queen said so. : : The thing is that they probably should have : find a way to use it as a tiara and : necklace, depending on the wearer's wish. : : Curiously, the diamond & emerald : necklace looks heavier than this one. : : --Previous Message-- : Henri, Queen Silvia said herself in the : Danish : TV documentary about royal jewels that the : amethyst necklace was heavy and cumbersome : to wear and that this contributed to her : decision to make it convertible into a : tiara. : : Queen Silvia presenting the 'new' tiara on : its blackened silver frame along with the : rest of the parure in 1979: : : : : : --Previous Message-- : I don't believe in that explanation.
