I also wrote in a post at the time of Queen Sophia's tiara reappearance earlier this year, that maybe Princess Marie-Chantal or her family were able to buy the tiara back through a private transaction.
IMHO, I think that it is quite unlikely that the tiara was left to Princess Irene, because it is such an important piece for the Greek RF to be left to a minor member of the RF, and risk the dispersion of it.
