You have a great confusion on this topic, I never write anything about biological kinship (nor about orchids neither), I only apoke to the fact that the species which was used as norm, standard or pattern for the heraldic design called FLEUR-DE-LYS was in fact a member of the species whose scientific name is Iris pseudacorus, under the common name of WATER LILY or YELLOW LILY (among others which I quoted and that Im not going to repeat). The heraldic designers of the early feudal times hardly knew anything about botanical classification (Carl Linnaeus was from the XVIIIth century!!!) for those times plants and animals were classified (making family to each other) for their general resemblance, the same that today makes them a family through their common names. Your taxonomical classification is correct!, although they are related plants too!. There is a little trick in talking about the different families (which founded your stance) and hide that they are from the same Class "Liliopsida" which, as its name implies, the lilies have ceded its name as patronymic [hence my comment "because iris is a type of lily"].
