The earrings do look as if they are emeralds and diamonds; they are similar to the sapphire set said to be made from Diana's sapphire earrings. Pleasing to see, as Catherine has worn so much generic manufactured jewelry with little presence.
The badge belongs to the regiment and was lent to Catherine and her predecessors to wear at their ceremonial appearances.
