Grand Duchess Vladimirs ruby tiara had a 8 carat centre stone and was made by Cartier shortly before WW1...after the revolution it was bought by Princess Anastasia nee Nancy Leeds as a wedding gift for her daughter in law Princess Xenia when she married Billy Leeds

: Grand Duchess Vladimir had a lovely ruby tiara
: and I recall that Empress Alexandra had one
    : as well.
    :
: Grand Duchess Xenia had some fine rubies as
    : well.
    :
: However, spectacularly large rubies to the
: Russian taste in size and splendour were
: rare and I suspect that accounts for the
: comparative rarity of them in the various
    : imperial collections.

: Thank you, Dmitry, so much. Iīd expected
    : that
: in the so rich russian imperial vault would
: have been a ruby tiara, too. I guess good
: and large stones have been rare at all
    : times.
: As far as I see from all the imperial
: wedding gift ruby tiaras to the grandduchess
: only the Bolin tiara (at last
    : Hohenlohe-Langenburg, now sold) survived.
: The greek one could also from russian origin
    : as the Torby tiara.

: There was a necklace of ruby clusters, a
    : pair
: of magnificent girandole earrings, and a bow
    : brooch, all in rubies.

: While thinking about expanding my little
: collection of jewellery books with the new
: one about "Jewels from Imperial St.
: Petersburg" I was grubbing through
: pictures and informations about the jewels
: of the russian imperial family. I was
: astonished that I couldnīt find a ruby
: parure in the asset of the tzarina. White
: diamond, pink diamond, pearls (a lot),
: emeralds and sapphires, but no rubies, no
    : necklace, no tiara.
    : Did I miss something?
