I quite agree that we don't want the jewelled bases buried in the hair.
PS to Johan - I have sent you a Private Message.
--Previous Message-- : Most of the tiara's were made in the fourth : quarter of the 19th century. Women had : different hairstyles back than and used : things like padding and fake hair to : disguise the frames. That has changed since. : Still i prefer seeing a bit of frame to the : burried in hair situation that we saw with : Beatrix. : : --Previous Message-- : : Thanks Johan. I did not think it was added : just for this latest occasion. : But I was commenting generally on such bases : on so many tiaras these days. They are very : visible. : : : --Previous Message-- : I think this is the normal base created when : the first frame had become too fragile. I : doubt they made a new frame for this event. : Than it would have fitted better than the : one Queen Maxima wore. : : --Previous Message-- : : Has this tiara always had that base? : More and more we see tiaras lifted higher : with these open bases but there is something : not quite right about them. : I wish someone could design a more elegant : method for raising a tiara out of the depths : of a hair arrangement, but without exposing : so much of the mechanics of doing that. : Or the hair needs to be arranged for some : hair to pass through the base to disguise : it. : : This concern probably did not matter before : the days of cameras pointing from every : direction. : : : --Previous Message-- : As much as I love seeing Maxima in this : tiara..I think at some point she might alter : the base of it because it doesn't fit her : head comfortably..from the front the gap : between base and the frame of the tiara : looks odd...too wide for her head...either : she might change the hairdo or change the : frame to reposition this tiara little : differently..it is quite large and massive : piece : : : It looks fine from the sides.. : : : : : : : : : :
