I agree with you that the little ivy-leaf on top should have remainded. It made the tiara so unique. As far as i have understand it the peaces who have been removed for the hairpins have been removed from the sides. So i don't think they can put on the tiara on it's ´present form as i think the frame is shorter. But if wanted one could rearange the tiara again and then integrate this peaces again. --Previous Message-- : I read/heard in an interview/documentary (I : actually don't remember, was it in the : phantastic documentary about royal jewels? : Where Queen Margrethe II said "We don't : count the carats, we count the : centuries" ) with Crown Princess Mary, : that the alterations had also been made to : make the tiara more fitting to her shape of : head. That the tiara in Queen Ingrid's : version was too wide for her and that she : had to wear it all the time too flat. Now, : after the alterations she can wear it higher : on the head, more like a tiara than a : 'headband'. : : Actually, I don't mind too much the : alterations made, but I utterly miss the : little ivy-leaf in the top-middle of the : tiara. It made it looking assymetrical in a : very natural way. The jewel itself was done : 'no harm', it has not been dismantled, just : a little bit re-arranged and it's : wearability expanded... : : But I like the thought that this grand jewel : sees more of the daylight, because there : were some hairpins made, which makes it : wearable on more occasions. I'm convinced, : jewels have to be worn, often . : : BTW, are these leafs permanently taken away : from the tiara or are they still 'in' the : tiara, but detachable to be worn as : hairpins?) : : : --Previous Message-- : I guess I should have said "Original : version of Queen Ingrid" not to confuse : anyone : : : : --Previous Message-- : Perhaps, but tastes do differ. The one you : call the "original version" was : really an altered version made to suit Queen : Ingrids taste and the current version was : made to suit Mary's taste. Neither lady : seems to have had a taste for the actual : original version of the tiara. : : --Previous Message-- : Thank you... : : oooh this frontal shot of the tiara is : killing me...new version of the tiara lost : airiness and substance... : : I (as I am sure you all know) have said that : the "original version" was so much : better...to mangle such a tiara just to : create few hairpins in my opinion is quite : sad.... : : RIP lol... : : : : : : : : : : : : --Previous Message-- : I'm a big fan of the ruby parure and found : these pictures on Marianne Dulong's Facebook : page. : : The ruby ring : : : The ruby tiara : : : Enjoy : : : : : : : :
