    Bjarne has described it in his book on page 186, and here is a short summary of his explanation.

    * (then) Prinsesse Margrethe received this brooch on her 18th birthday from lady Patricia Ramsey, née Connaught. Margrethe's mother, the late Queen Ingrid, had always had a special bond with her maternal aunt, and they often visited each other (be that in Denmark or when the Danish royals were in GB).
    Queen Ingrid had been a bridesmaid at Princess Patricia's wedding, who wore the brooch on her wedding dress (lovely photograph of the bride in Bjarne's book!).
    So this was a very special gift for the young birthday-girl !!
    The brooche - most probably - has been made by Garrards.
