She did wear a small brooch - an amethyst surrounded by one or two rows of diamonds.
I know I have seen a picture where the Queen Mother wears this brooch, and I believe the Queen (her daughter) also wore it once for a Buckingham Palace audience, but the pattern of her dress was difficult and the pictures were very small.
