I do think I recall that the Marquess of Carisbrooke was ill. Beaufort would have been downstairs with the peers.
--Previous Message-- : I would assume that 31 was for the Marquess of : Carisbrooke (next to his wife) but he may : have been ill. He died in 1960. : 24, I guess was for the Duke of Beaufort but : he may have not sat in the Royal box but had : another seat in the area with the other : Dukes - he was also Master of the Horse so : would have ridden in the procession with the : Queen : : --Previous Message-- : : Today my copy of the book arrived and I am : quite pleased with it. It is a good record : of the occasion in such a small book. : : It has the best pic yet of the head : ornaments worn by the Maids of Honour, and a : seating plan for the Royal Gallery. : Now there need be no doubt about who wore : the tiaras in that gallery. : : The book is The Queen’s Coronation 1953 , : The Offiical Souvenir Album, Caroline de : Guitaut, Royal Collection Trust, 2013 : : : : : : : :
