The catalogue of princess Mathilde Bonaparte's collection, sold after her death in Paris mentions 4 Pearl Necklaces.
One is a sautoir bought by the princess at Mellerio
One is a simple rope of pearls meant to be worn every day.
One is the 7 seven strands necklace inherited from her mother.
The last one is the most important. It is a 3 strands of enormous pearls mentioned in the preface of the catalogue as having been inherited by princesse Mathilde from her cousin queen Sophie of the netherlands.
I guess this is the one you are referring to. It was the most expensive item in the whole colliection sold for something like 700 000 gold francs at the time.
The total of the collection made around 4 millions gold francs, so that gives you an idea of the value of the pearls.
