This photo was a taken at the exhibition entitled "Denmark and the Russian Empire: 1600 - 1900" which was opened by Queen Margrethe a few days ago at Frederiksborg Castle in Denmark. The statue allegedly represents the Empress Maria Feodorovna of Russia, sister of England's Princess Alexandra, Princess of Wales. (The sisters were daughters of the Danish king.)
The Empress is apparently wearing the Rundell tiara. Do you agree? If so - how so?
The original Rundell, which was a wedding gift to the Princess of Wales, looks very similar to the tiara on the statue. Compare, too, the several diamond stars across the bodice of each gown, and the positioning of the Order across the right shoulder of each.
Could the statue on exhibit actually be of the then Princess of Wales?
