To suggest that the Duchess of Cambridge should wear this tiara because of her title is a bit fallacious. The actual Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara was sold at auction in 1981 after presumably passing through descendants of Augusta, Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
Roberts refers to the tiara in the Queen's possession as 'Queen Mary's Lover's Knot Tiara.' It was made to resemble the original Cambridge tiara but the upright pearls were later removed.
