I am afraid that’s if not wrong then highly exaggerated marketing. I now have the book in my hands, and as for the Queen’s views, we get a small text box with the same information already published by the press: The emerald parure requires something special, while for instance pearls are easier to wear because they go with more.
However, the author has had access to the study the jewels up close, and there is a full chapter in the book with a gemological analysis of the whole set and new and beautiful close up photos. That alone makes the book highly interesting for a royal watcher.
I haven’t read the other parts of the book yet, but it seems we get an introduction to the beryl family. As a beginner in this field I look very much forward to reading these chapters as well. Furthermore the book has lots and lots of amazing photos – very much eye candy, and nearly to many photos of celebs wearing emeralds as well. However, skimming through the book, as a royal watcher I do miss information and photos of the Greek and Norwegian emeralds - they would imo fit perfectly in a book dedicated to the beauty of emeralds.
