I was very fortunate to view the Cartier exhibition in Lisbon some years ago. Yes, Queen Elizabeth of Belgium Diamond tiara bandeau was there and it is indeed a small piece, I found it smaller than I was expecting, but a really really beautiful piece. It actually became one of my favourite tiaras, and I will say it again, really beautiful and a superb craftmanships. Queen Elizabeth was a small woman and this tiara was made to fit her headsize, but I think it has a non rigid structure and can be worn more closed or more open like Pss Lilian wore it. A pity we can't see it on Queen Mathilde...
Another tiara that surprised me was the Wessex tiara (worn by Lady Churchill to the 1953 coronation and by CP Margarita of Romania on her wedding day)it is very grand, really impressive in size.
The Duchess of Windsor's big amethyst and turquoise necklace was another pleasant surprise. From the photos I'd seen of it I did not like the necklace, it just looked too dark and heavy, but seeing it live was just amazing, it is a trully stunning piece. This exhibition is really a must see for jewelry lovers, if you have the oportunity to see it don't miss it
