I believe the Flame Lily, viewed from this angle, would look quite different. I'll try & find an example....
Nearest I can find that is not too bad to compare is Getty #101641976 (Epsom Derby 2010)
I think the weight & balance of the design of the mystery brooch appears to be as if it has a simple stalk, with small detail at the top, whereas the Flame Lily has a bulge of interest at the centre too, due to the leaf detail.
--Previous Message-- : Thanks for the slightly better picture Gill. : As I have said before, couldn't it be the : flame lily? : (and if not why not ) : : --Previous Message-- : I've added a comment and a couple of : links... : : : http://members2.boardhost.com/royal-jewels/msg/1384739179.html : I can't find a perfect picture of this : brooch worn at the Palace reception in : October, but it is not the amethyst flower : spray - it's the wrong shape, being wider at : the top, whereas the amethyst one is pretty : uniform along it's length. : : : : http://s144.photobucket.com/user/gillweb/media/BPreceptionforMPs15October2013-3195957b_zps80ced64a.jpg.html : : ;-) : : : Oh, and there was an item here recently : which showed the "true" Tay Bridge : brooch, which is not the one you illustrated : as most of us previously believed.
