That's new information: thanks for sharing. Now I start to believe it's possible that the parure is in portugueses hands and, who knows, closer to the Royal House. That may explain why there aren't (as far as I know) color pictures of both tiara and necklace.

Dreaming a little: the parure could had be offered as a wedding present to the Dukes of Braganza in 1995. It would be interesting to see HRH the Duchess wearing the tiara.

: I once organised a private tour for the
: Israeli ambassador to the palace of Vila
: Viçosa and we were shown around by the then
: director, who discussed this subject with
: the lawyer of the Fundaçao who was present
: too. However, this happened almost 25 years
: ago and though I am pretty sure that it was
: one of the Portuguese dukes that bought it,
: I seem to remember that it was Palmela.
: Would have some logic anyway, as that family
: was still very, very rich, before the
    : revolution.

: I read that some time ago (and I belive it
: was in this board) but never saw anyone
: being completely sure that the tiara and the
: necklace were with the Palmela family.

: If I remember right, the emerald parure was
: sold to the then Duque de Palmela in
    : Portugal.

: Yes, you are right. The necklace and the
    : tiara
: were wedding presents from H.M. parents (one
: biography also talks about earrings but I
: never saw any pictures of them).
: The broch (3 emeralds and 140 diamonds) was
: also a wedding present but from her uncle:
    : the Duc of Aumale.
: There was also at least one bracelet and
: other 'smaller' pieces with unknown origin.
: Unfortunately I have no idea where those
    : pieces are now.

: Wasn't the emerald parure from Queen Amelie
: coming from the Orleans family ?
: The late comte de Paris inherited queen
: Amelie emerald tiara !! and sold it quite
    : immediately !!

: That necklace always reminded me the emerald
: parure of Queen Amelie of Portugal.
