funny, I got almost the exact same text from Cartier confirming it today! I think this would mean that the fringe tiara is not Cartier as it was thought! --Previous Message-- : I was lucky enough to obtain a copy of the : english version of 'Cartier - Style & : History' in a bookstore in Vienna before it : finally sold out ... : : : First paragraph on the right side: : : : : : : : P.S.: Eric, thank for the lovely video link! : Unfortunately I was too late to order the : DVD - now sold out ... : : --Previous Message-- : Exactly, I thing it refers to the year it : was : made, especially, since the tiara did not : become Rainier's property in 1949 as : Charlotte wore it in 1956 to his wedding, : why give him a tiara when he had no wife and : she could still use it! : : --Previous Message-- : --Previous Message-- : : It's just written ! May be it became : properrty of prince Rainier when he ascended : the throne in 1949 : : : But at the beginning of each chapter they : give year dates for exemplary pieces, and : it's quite clear that they are referring to : the year of origin. It wouldn't make sense : to refer to the year when a piece became : property of someone, if the purpose is to : give a time frame for each of the chapters : of the documentation, no? : : : : : :
