    Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and QEII have worn pearls for funerals.
    After QEQM's mother died, the Queen's dresses for a State Visit to Paris were changed to white and she wore pearls. It has been said that she followed a royal custom introduced by Mary Queen of Scots in wearing white for mourning.
    After seeing the photo in John R's post, I wonder if the more recent example of Queen Wilhelmina might have prompted QEQM's decision to wear white.
    How creative the Dutch Royal ladies have been (and are) in wearing jewels.
    Edit - In this instance I am referring to how Queen Wilhelmina wore pearls attached to her headdress.
