Very strange, ain't it. I did some google research after I found the article. It was mentionned in several books http://books.google.be/books?id=3j2VJj1hs1EC&pg=PA1918&dq=belgian+crown+ivan+serov&hl=nl&sa=X&ei=N958U6ydDIaLyQPl0YGwBA&ved=0CDsQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=belgian%20crown%20ivan%20serov&f=false as the crown of the Belgian king. What doesn't really exist, exept for some cartboard version in the 1800's. It was mentionned as wel on a forum, dated 2004. http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=42400 Henri, the original french article states that it was the Nazi's who took it. Then afterwards the Soviets... It's lesser known, but there where other Cartier Tiara's in the Belgian royal family back then. Thinking about Lilian's, from the Courtball. But perhaps more importantly. There's another Cartier one belonging to Elisabeth. There exists a photograph of it in Christophe's book but it hasn't been seen since before the war..... Maybe it's this one... :D Who's well connected? --Previous Message-- : : : --Previous Message-- : But HM Queen Elisabeth wore her Cartier : Tiara during the inauguratianball of Queen : Juliana in 1948! : : : wonder how serious this is and how the : Cartier Diadem ever ended up in the hands of : the Soviets. For so far I know Queen : Elisabeth mainly stayed in Belgium during : the war, with many German contacts (as she : was born a Duchess in Bavaria) but -for so : far I know- never in area which would become : occupied by Soviet forces. : : :
