John R, just a short note regarding your most interesting compilation of information and pictures (not only) of the emerald parure: You write that emeralds are the second hardest gemstones after diamonds, but in fact with 7,5 - 8 on the Mohs scale they are considerably less hard than sapphires and rubies with 9. --Previous Message-- : Indeed, originally it had three prongs (pear : shaped emerald clusters) and the two round : emeralds now on top were set in the bandeau : itself.
