Thank you so much Nellie and Arthur for providing these images.
As it turns out, I am pretty sure that the second brooch is the Commonwealth Rose - it sure looked different as a freeze frame on the video. I was able to enlarge one of Arthur's pictures and match it up - here'are some shots from other events.
At least I now know that this brooch was in HM's possession in 2006. I did not have much info on this one...every little bit helps.
As for the Aquamarine brooch - I thought it looked quite nice in the video. Maybe we might get a better look at it during this recent rummaging through the jewel vaults which has uncovered some great new pieces.
Thanks again for all of your efforts! Cheers! Bryce
--Previous Message-- : Regarding the first brooch, I agree it must be : an aquamarine in the middle. I feel small : darker points can be seen on the frame of : the brooch (maybe be onyx or rubies?), but : it is very difficult to say, as the pictures : are so blurry. : : The two lateral parts of this rectangular : brooch have no glitter at all. It might be : the effect of daylight, but I wonder if they : could be made of crystal (which was : frequently used and mixed with stones in Art : Déco jewels) instead of diamonds. : : The second brooch was worn during a : reception which took place on December 19, : 2006, in Buckingham Palace "for the : country's top achievers". Zimbio has no : pictures of this reception, but Getty has : several pictures. Unfortunately, the Queen : is often seen from the (wrong) side; and on : frontal views, Getty’s watermarks often hide : the brooch. Here is the full set of pictures : on Getty Images’ website: : http://www.gettyimages.fr/Search/Search.aspx?contractUrl=2&language=fr&family=editorial&assetType=image&ebd=2006-12-19&eed=2006-12-19&p=Queen+Elizabeth# : : Here are the "best" views I could : find: : : : : : : It could possibly be one of the Queen’s : diamond floral brooches, but it is actually : very difficult to be sure from these : pictures. : : Edit: here are better pictures, without : watermarks, from Spokeo website: : : : : : I confirm it must be one of the diamond : floral brooches owned by the Queen. : : : --Previous Message-- : Thank you Nellie, : The style of the brooch reminds me of the : one HM wore for the Commonwealth reception. : I watched the Youtube item but, alas, the : brooch we are currently discussing lacks the : wonderful sparkle of the brooch worn at the : Commonwealth reception. After watching the : video, I am inclined to think the central : stone is an aquamarine. : : --Previous Message-- : : The best I could manage. : Looks to me like a diamond bar with a : coloured stone in the centre third. : : : : : : --Previous Message-- : These may have been discussed before but... : : An earlier discussion brought up the fact : that there are, no doubt, many of the Queen : jewels that we do not see in the normal : course of our arduous endeavours to do so. : : Case in point is the Aquamarine and : Diamond(?) bar style brooch which The Queen : is wearing when she meets a group of St : John’s Ambulance Brigade before one of her : garden parties as seen in the documentary : Monarchy: The Royal Family at Work . : At the garden part itself, another “regular” : brooch is worn (Jardine Star). : I fear we are missing out on a lot where we : do not get as good media coverage. : : There is another brooch uncovered that I am : not sure if any one has noticed. The Queen : is hosting an “Achievers” reception and : Buckingham Palace. During the reception, HM : can be seen wearing what looks to be a gold, : diamond and pearl brooch (leafy looking to : me). You only get a few glimpses of it. At : first I thought is was the Australian Wattle : base on size and colour but it is not. I : think it is some sort of large, gold, : heart-shaped, leaf hanging down with the : stem(s) at the top. : : Here is the YouTube link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ai4JWef1-Y : Entitled: Monarchy: The Royal Family at : Work 4/5 : : The aquamarine brooch can be seen from time : frame 4:50 to 5:40. : The other gold brooch from frame 56:19 to : 57:30 : : I would really appreciate it is anyone has a : screen shot of these - or a better picture : of course. : I can not seem to capture it. : As always, thanks for you help! : : Cheers! : Bryce : : : : : : : :
