Three-Thistle Brooch at the Commonwealth Games Archived Message

Queen Elizabeth II attended today (24 July, 2014) the first day of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The Queen visited the Athletes Village, then attended hockey and swimming competitions.

As for jewels, she wore her Three-Thistle Diamond Brooch – a very appropriate jewel for Scotland, that she has worn several times since 2012 (always in Scotland + a recent photo portrait by Harry Benson: http://members2.boardhost.com/royal-jewels/msg/1404230478.html ). Possibly a Diamond Jubilee Gift?

Zimbio has nice pictures of the Queen and of her brooch. It confirms it must be made of yellow and white diamonds rather than of gold and silver.
