Re: QE2 Modern Diamond Bracelet (with HQ pics) Archived Message

That's a possibility, but I am not convinced: on your picture of QEQM, the bracelet looks like it is made of U-shaped elements with a brilliant in the centre of each "U". On the Queen's bracelet for the Irish State Banquet, the bracelet seems to be made of "8-shaped" elements. And QE2's bracelet looks of a more graduated size than QEQM's.

Just a visual impression, of course. We would need better pictures to be sure (HQ close-up, with the right angle, and no overlapping glove! ). I do regret that Roberts did not include all these bracelets in his book!

: I think back during the time of the banquet, I
: suggested that it might be this bracelet
    : worn by Queen Elizabeth.

    : Hello Bryce,
    :
: "delicate" is a very subjective
: comment, so it is not a really descriptive
    : word...
    :
: I am sure the bracelet worn at the State
: Banquet for the Irish President is not the
: black and white pearl bracelet. The design
: looks really different. I would say it is a
: 19th century design, typical of
    : late-Georgian or Victorian jewellery. But I
: do not have seen this bracelet earlier.

: I do not think that I would describe the
    : Irish
    : State bracelet as "delicate".
    : Looks pretty chunky.
    :
: Could this one possibly be the Black &
    : White Pearl bracelet??
    :
    : Cheers!

: Thank you, Baxter, for the "older"
    : pictures!
    :
: And thank you, Franck, for the indications
: about Field. When Leslie Field mentioned
    : " a modern triple-row brilliant-cut
: diamond bracelet, which the Queen wears at
    : evening functions " ( The Queen's
    : Jewels , page 34 of the 2002 reprint), I
: thought that she refered to the Baguette and
: Brilliant Bracelet, but I have apparently
    : misunderstood her.
    :
: I am curious about another bracelet
: mentioned by Field in the same phrase as the
: one quoted above. It is described as "
: a delicate narrow link bracelet with floral
: motifs, which has not been seen in public
: ". I know that these last words are
: quite discouraging, but has anyone seen this
: bracelet? May be the Queen has worn it in
: public posteriorly to The Queen's Jewels
: first publication in 1987? Could it be the
: diamond bracelet worn on 8th April, 2014
: during the recent Irish State visit?

    : Dear all,
    :
: There are two diamonds bracelets :
    :
: - one given by her father ;(loaned to
    : Princess Diana)
: - one described by Leslie Field as a modern
: triple row diamond bracelet ; (this one worn
: at the 1988 Order of the British empire
    : service)
    :
    : Best regards,
    :

: The bracelet has been around for many years.
: It was worn to the 1988 Order of the British
    : Empire service.
    :
    :
: Although I failed to adequately capture it,
: there is a shot of the bracelet in the 1992
: documentary made to mark HM's forty years on
: the throne which shows that there are two
    : "knot" motifs.
