Dear Arthur, Thank you for your message. I am also sure that Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother inherited the Greville Emerald and diamond tiara with a huge emerald in its center (we have a photo of the tiara in 'the archives de Boucheron" de Vincent Meylan. Therefore,I hope that one day we will see the all parure worn Franck --Previous Message-- : Yes, I think this official portrait of the : Queen-Mother with her daughter Margaret and : her grand-children Anne and Andrew (made for : the Queen-Mother's 90th birthday in 1990) : was the last outing of this necklace. : : : : The Queen-Mother herself does not seem to : have worn it very often, especially if we : compare with her favourite necklaces (Queen : Victoria's ruby and diamond necklace, Queen : Alexandra's pearl and diamond necklace, : Greville diamond necklace). : : There are so many jewels in the British : collection, which rest in the vaults for : decades, and then pop up one day : unexpectedly. A few examples: : - Queen Victoria's Jubilee necklace: worn by : Queen Victoria in her late years and by : Queen Elizabeth II as soon as 1952 (and : since then one of her firm favourite), but : never seen inbetween : - Queen Mary's Trophy-of-Love Diamond : Choker: worn by the young Queen Mary before : WW1, then never worn and seen anymore, until : it resurfaced in Hugh Roberts The Queen's : Diamonds in 2012 : - Queen Alexandra's Amethyst and Pearl : necklace: seen among the wedding gifts to : Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon in 1923, then never : seen until it was worn at a film premiere by : the Duchess of Cornwall in 2012 : - Queen Mary's Durbar Tiara: worn in : South-Africa by Queen(-Mother) Elizabeth in : 1947, then never seen again until an : exhibition in 1998 : - Greville Diamond Bow Brooch: worn by the : Queen Mother in 1961, then never worn again : until it resurfaced in Hugh Roberts The : Queen's Diamonds in 2012 : - Queen Alexandra's Pearl and Diamond : wedding Brooch: worn by Queen Mary until her : death in 1953, then worn only twice in 1972 : (State Visit to France) and 2014 (visit to : Northern Ireland). : : So the 24 years during which we have not : seen the Greville Emerald necklace are far : from an exception... unfortunately! : : I hope too we will see it worn by the Queen. : I do not know if it is with her, or if it : was loaned to the Duchess of Cornwall, as it : seems to be the case with most of the : Queen-Mother's privately-owned jewels. : : It would certainly look well on Camilla. The : big size of this necklace is perfectly : fitting for a mature woman. But Camilla has : already an emerald and diamond necklace : (supposedly one of her Middle-Eastern : gifts), made of beautiful large rectangular : emeralds (but set up with a rather : uninspired design, IMHO) and worn at least : three times since 2009. : : : : So, let's hope! : : (and if Mrs Angela Kelly is reading this : board: please, Madam, pleeeeaaaase...! ) : : : --Previous Message-- : : Wow, thanks Arthur! That photo is new to : me. : : The beautiful necklace doesn't seem to have : been worn very often. I think it was last : seen on the Queen Mother in 1990, which : means it has been lingering in the vaults : for nearly a quarter of a century. But I : suppose all we can do is wait patiently for : its triumphant return, preferably on the : Queen. : : :
