    Hello Joye,

    this brooch is described in Leslie Field's The Queen's Jewels (page 136 of the 2002 reprint of the 1997 edition), in the chapter dedicated to 'pearls and diamonds', under the name 'Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother's Flower Brooch'.

    Field simply describes this brooch as "a five-petalled flower brooch with a cluster centre". Actually, the flower centre seems to be made of a cluster of pearls, but I wonder of what the petals can be made of. Mother-of-pearl? Baroque pearls? Smoky crystal? Hard to tell, from the pictures.

    Apparently, Queen(-Mother) Elizabeth wore this brooch in the 1930s (notably for one of her first photographic portraits as Queen in December 1936):

    It was later worn by Queen Elizabeth II at the International Horse Trials at Badminton, in 1953:
