Three Danish sisters at Tivoli Archived Message

Last week, on 15th September 2014, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, Princess Benedikte of Denmark and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece handed out their mother’s award, the Queen Ingrid Honorary Award, in Tivoli Gardens in central Copenhagen.

The award is handed out annually and this year it’s the sixth time the three royal sisters have presented the prize that goes to promising young artists as a way of helping them fulfil their ambitions. The amount of honorary award is 250,000 Danish crowns. This year, Queen Margrethe, Princess Benedikte and Queen Anne-Marie delivered the prize to the 19-year-old ballet dancer, Sebastian Haynes and the 34-year-old solo cellist in the Tivoli Gardens Symphony Orchestra, Toke Møldrup.

During this ceremony, the three sisters wore interesting jewels that I had not seen before:

    - Queen Margrethe II: an long sautoir made of pearls and blue beads (probably not sapphires)

    - Princess Benedikte: a multigem and gold necklace, a pair of large red and green stones (spinels and emeralds?) earrings and a large green stone (emerald?) and gold brooch

    - Queen Anne-Marie: a large ruby and diamond flower brooch, a one-row necklace of large (South Sea?) pearls, and ruby earrings with large pear-shaped pearl drops.

I have already seen Queen Anne-Marie's pearl necklace, but the rest of the jewels are new to me. Has anyone information about these jewels?

    Thanks in advance!

    Arthur
