Lennick, after looking up Keshi pearls on the net, I now realise what you were referring to. I had always previously associated the term Keshi with salt water pearls. The ones I have seen have always had a very high lustre, look very different from freshwater pearls, are expensive and are not something which would be mixed with freshwater pearls. I now see that the term is also used for some types of freshwater pearls. It is interesting how I learn something each day. --Previous Message-- : Lennick, Could you explain where you think the : Keshi pearls are, please? I cannot spot : anything I would identify as a Keshi. : : Certainly, there are numerous baroque and : coin shaped dyed fresh water pearls. What an : interesting combination of colours. : : --Previous Message-- : Thank you Lennick, : : I will zoom in on Arthur's photos. Your : comment about Keshi pearls has me intrigued. : I agree about the Labradorite beads. I think : there are other minor gemstones also. I find : it intriguing to try to identify various : gemstones. : : --Previous Message-- : Having zoomed in on the picture it seems : clear : to me that the necklace is a multi-row twist : of freshwater Keshi pearls, baroque : freshwater pearls and teardrop shaped : labradorite beads. I can't get a close : enough look at the back but it looks like : it's strung onto a single row of small : freshwater pearls. : : The belt looks like a match for the necklace : - I can see Keshi pearls, grey coin pearls : and a mix of freshwaters of various shapes. : : It's a beautiful set. : : --Previous Message-- : What a very perplexing question you have : posed : Arthur. I had not previously noticed the : belt. : : The colours and, I think, the textures are : similar to the necklace, and for me the belt : also brings to mind the midnight tiara : suite. On the other hand, I have not seen : any round pearls in the belt and the detail : is not sufficient to distinguish if there : are gemstones (even minor ones) : incorporated. : : I think your query will keep me wondering : for a while, but my initial guess would be : that the belt is costume jewellery. That : thought has me wondering about the necklace : now! : : Whatever conclusion we come to, this : necklace, on this dress, suits Queen Sonia. : : : : : : : :
