Last Tuesday, 3rd February 2015, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall attended the British Asian Trust dinner at Banqueting House, in Whitehall, London.

For this dinner, the Duchess of Cornwall wore her diamond snake necklace and a pair of large amethyst earrings, bordered with a line of diamonds.

The diamond snake necklace is well known, since Camilla has worn it for years, even before her wedding to the Prince of Wales in 2005.

The large amethyst earrings have already been worn occasionally by Camilla. The earliest event I have spotted with Camilla wearing these earrings was on 4th December 2006. She has worn them either with the diamond snake necklace (pictured above), or with a necklace made of small amethysts and diamonds, or with a pearl and amethyst necklace with a large central heart-shaped amethyst, which was Queen Alexandra's wedding gift to the Queen Mother in 1923:

Does anyone know the origin of the amethyst earrings?
