A very interesting picture Bryce showing quite a few jewels still in use today, the pearl brooch & diamond sash brooch both often worn by the Queen Mother as well as the earrings & what looks like the pearl necklaces of Queen Anne & Queen Caroline. I think Queen Victoria was a very interesting lady, I have nearly finished reading a book about her by Roland Perry based on factual letters QV wrote to her eldest daughter Victoria, The Princess Royal & Empress of Germany that were apparently taken by the Russians after WW1 & have been in KGB archives ever since. No doubt QV mentioned some of these things in her diaries but her youngest daughter Beatrice decided that some of her mother`s thoughts were not for public consumption & rewrote her diaries leaving out what she thought unsuitable, so these letters are a valuable insight into QV`s real thoughts.

Alexandra maybe? : : : : --Previous Message-- : Beth1 posted a link to this picture of QV in : connection with the crown pearls. : : When I enlarged the image, I was surprsied : to see a virtual menagerie of jewels in her : hair...diamond stars, large pearls and ropes : of trailing diamonds ?? : : I have never noticed these before as they : seemed to blend in with HM's veil. : : Have these been discussed before or does : anyone have any information in their reagrd? : : : : http://www.npg.org.uk/collections/search/portrait/mw245359/Queen-Victoria?LinkID=mp04634&search=sas&sText=Queen+Victoria&OConly=true&wPage=7&role=sit&rNo=151 : : : :
