The British Queen is not the only Sovereign whose pearl necklaces are interesting to explore...
Last 23rd December, for her husband Emperor Akihito's birthday, Empress Michiko of Japan wore a beautiful four-row pearl necklace, with two large pearl and diamond plaques on both sides:
I had never seen this necklace before. Has anyone pictures of previous events when this necklace was worn?
It is NOT the pearl necklace that the Empress has worn on 2 October 2014 for the farewell ceremony of Princess Noriko of Takamado. This one has five pearl strands (and not four), and has one single gold (?) and diamond clasp, on the left side (instead of two diamond plaques):
