This would make things very difficult for the queen moving her brooch as she so often does, as mentioned, between coat & dress.
I think it's highly unlikely. As HMs jewellery is so well cared for and well maintained, I think it's probably not the case.
Apart from which, I'm sure we've read before that HM puts the brooch on herself and I can't see her sewing it on every day!
