Rubies and pearls! Two things Burma has been famous for. As the country is now trying to re-build its pearl industry (by pearl farming), I wonder if this brooch is a present to the Queen. Whatever the situation, it is a charming piece. I just wish that HM's hair was not obscuring the jewel - but, unfortunately, I cannot always have my wishes granted.
