Here is an epaulette recycled from my notes of March 2007
Found in Jewellery from the Renaissance to Art Nouveau - " Epaulette of Augustus III of Saxony. Diamonds, including one of 48.5 carats, Dresden, c 1740. " I imagine that the fringed end would hang over the edge of the shoulder.
