Many thanks Mauriz. I wondered about the clips on the Duchess of Gloucester's dress, but I confess I hadn't thought about them in the way you did, which proves they are not earrings. I must sharpen my thinking!
The Duchess has been wearing her Tahitian pearls for a number of years now. Bryce, your photo is the best close up photo I have ever seen. It shows that, although these pearls do not have the peacock overtones of pearls with the most desired colour or the very best lustre, they are very good pearls with only slight blemishes. (I admit that colour choice for pearls is a matter of taste and it maybe that the Duchess prefers this colour to any other, despite industry gradings)
I would like to see a closer view of her Australian South Seas pearl necklace also - which looks fabulous on her.
Some recent photos of the 2 large pearl strands worn by Princess Michael of Kent show that they are what are marketed as "circle" pearls.
