I agree with you Johan about Princess Claire's ensemble for this occasion. Of course she's lovely looking and the jewelry is spectacular. But this isn't the best she's looked, and the total effect is a bit harsh and loud by her usual standards. I don't happen to like the dropped shoulder effect--nice on its own for an evening occasion maybe but too distracting in this group photo/family occasion.

: Im not a fan of Claire's outfit. The red is
: too harsh on her pale skin and dark hair. I
: feel a softer colour would have suited her
: better. The dress is not flattering either
: (unlike that of Stephanie who seems to have
: found her style recently) and the jewels are
: overbaring. A simpler soft pink dress in
: more flowing material would have looked
: better with only the small bandau and
    : earrings.

    : Great picture !;
: To me Princess Claire stole the show : small
: tiara huge necklace and earings which does
: not belong to the Grand Ducal jewels.
: Very happy to see the floral brooch for Hed
    : Grand Duchess Stephanie.

: I agree with Bryce that the simple design of
    : Hereditary Grand-Duchess Stéphanie reminds
: of the fluid style of the dresses of the
    : 1920s/1930s. All Grand-Ducal ladies were
: quite elegant, but Stéphanie was, in my
: opinion, the most elegant of them.
    :
: She is also wearing on her sash one of the
: large (and beautiful) rose brooches of the
: Grand-Ducal Collection. This is the first
: time she is wearing one of these brooches,
    : isn't it?

: Agnes, every new tiara would be welcome, of
    : course!
: But the Grand-Ducal collection is actually
: not quite short on tiaras: besides the 5
: tiaras worn on the pictures above, there are
: still at least 9 other tiaras available: the
: big Nassau diamond tiara, the vine-grape
: diamond tiara, the small diamond floral
    : tiara, Grand-Duchess Charlotte's Chaumet Art
: Déco tiara with a large central cabochon
    : emerald, Grand-Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte's
    : peacock emerald tiara/necklace, the
    : aquamarine tiara/bracelet, the small
: turquoise tiara, the Chaumet pearl and
: diamond treillice tiara, and the small
: diamond tiara with butterfly-motifs worn
: last year for the first (and only) time by
: Grand-Duchess Stéphanie at the National
    : Day's reception at the Grand-Ducal Palace.
: Plus possibly two other tiaras whose current
    : whereabouts are unknown: Grand-Duchess
    : Joséphine-Charlotte's Congo diamond
: bandeau/necklace and the mysterious emerald
: tiara worn by Grand Duchess
: Joséphine-Charlotte at Queen Margrethe II
: and Prince Henrik of Denmark's wedding in
    : 1967.
    :
    : I think the Grand-Ducal collection is
: shorter on necklaces. The necklaces worn by
    : Grand-Duchess Maria-Teresa or her
    : daughters-in-law/daughter are often quite
: small and do not fit properly, IMHO, with
: the size and style of the larger and
: classical tiaras. Several of the necklaces
: are even not real necklaces, but bracelets
: mounted as necklaces. New necklaces would be
: needed to complement properly the
    : Grand-Ducal tiaras.
    :
: PS: this is an off-jewel-topic remark, but I
: had not realized that Princess Claire was so
    : tall!
