    I have searched the website of Los Angeles National History Museum: there are quite a lot of nice pictures of various gems and minerals, but I have found unfortunately no reference to any "Queen Alexandra Opal".

    The first link given by Beth mentions that the Queen Alexandra Opal was "shown by Mr. Percy Marks, of Sydney, at the Franco-British exhibition", but it does not imply that Queen Alexandra ever owned it (though she visited the exhibition). I guess the name was probably given as a tribute to the Queen - and also possibly as an commercial incentive, in the hope that a stone with such an illustrious name would be purchased by the Queen herself, or by any wealthy gem collector...
