    Antique pearl tiara Archived Message

The antique pearl tiara and Anna Pavlovna's tiara are not the same ones. As the painting of the queen shows her pearls are on the top of the diamond leaves/fleurs de lys. The antique pearl tiara has smaller spikes in between the fleurs de lys that support the upright pearls.

: Seems there are 2 versions of the tiara queen
: Anna paulowna has worn during this event.
: Here the pearl version. There has been
: discussion that the base of this tiara is
: now used for the spike pearl Baetrix used to
    : wear often.

: In a letter to her brother Tsar Nicholas I
: Anna Pavlovna describes her outfit for the
: investiture ceremony and speaks of wearing
: her tiara with pavlovnik style pearls.
: Sophie of Wurtemberg had several tiara's
: not one resembles the one in this picture.
: Princess Louise must have had more tiara's
: but the only one properly depicted is the
: Orange-Nassau pearl tiara now with her
: descendant Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.

: As I visited palace Het Loo, former royal
: Dutch residence in Apeldoorn, I was allowed
: to take some closer pictures of the
: inthronisation painting of King William ll.
: I took a close up from queen Anna Paulowna
: and one of the four Dutch royal ladies at
: that time. From left to right: crown
: princess Sophie, queen Anna Paulowna,
: Princess Louise (spouse of prince Frederick
: brother to the new king) and princess Sophie
: (daughter of the new King and later to be
    : grandduchess of Sachsen Weimar).
