This necklace has been inherited by Queen Elizabeth II after her mother's death in 2002, but it has never been seen since then. I would be glad if the Queen decided to wear it occasionally. That would make a nice alternative to Queen Victoria's Jubilee Necklace, which is the Queen most usual pearl and diamond necklace.
Speaking of "alterations" about this necklace, we should remember that it is actually a very versatile piece from the very beginning:
- the pearl and diamond clusters are detachable (Queen Alexandra had worn them as brooches pinned onto the collarette of her Coronation dress):
