The jewels and gemstones are displayed, beautifully, in their own rooms of the Natural History Museum, which is a very busy place. Admission is free, and there are lots of children in school and family groups. One can get very close to the glass behind which the jewels are housed. I'm sure the glass is wiped frequently, but it is no doubt impossible to keep it pristine all the time. But it's a wonderful place. I had never realized just how many gemstones there are! I recommend a trip to Washington for many reasons, Arthur, and the Smithsonian's jewels are a special treat.
