Empress Eugenie's Pink Pearl Drop Earrings Archived Message

Ten months ago, we had a discussion on this board about a (modern) brooch, to be sold at New-York-based Doyle's auction house. The brooch included two pear-shaped pink/grey pearls said to have belonged to Eugenie, Empress of the French from 1853 to 1870:

It seems that these pearl earrings were bought last year by the New-York jeweller Siegelson, and that Siegelson had the brooch dismantled and the pear-shaped pink/grey pearls mounted as earring drops (again?):

As you can see on the pictures above, we can notice both on the brooch picture and on the earrings pictures a slight, but distinctive difference between the two pearls: one of the two pearls (the bottom pearl of the brooch and the earring on our left on the first picture and on our right on the second picture) has a less narrow top than the other pearl, as well as a sharper pear-shape. And the diamond caps of the pearls also look similar in the brooch version and in the earrings version.

Personally, I am not a great fan of jewel transformation, but in this case, I find this transformation very successful. These earrings are absolutely lovely and gorgeous! Fit for a Queen... or an Empress!
