Third Night in France 1938. Archived Message

The third night of the State Visit to France was marked by a Dinner given by the Foreign Minister at the Quai d'Orsay. Queen Elizabeth's jewels were even more interesting in that she wore Mrs Greville's big Boucheron tiara along with Mrs Ronnie's 5 rows of diamonds. I have quite a good press photo of the event but I can't lay my hands on it, I have recently moved house. Does any one else have a picture of this occasion ? I suppose it means that Mrs Greville lent the Queen jewels in her lifetime or did she make a gift of a couple of the more spectacular pieces once Elizabeth became Queen. Thanks to Beth for bringing up the third night in Paris in 1938 I'd been meaning to mention it. --Previous Message-- : I totally agree with your opinion about the : brooch at the centre of HM's dress Arthur. : : I have been searching on European sites for : more photos of this State Visit to France - : but unfortunately, I have yet to find any : better photos. : : I think - from what I have read in the : British media - that the Return dinner and : the visit to the Opera were on the same : night and so the photo you posted earlier : this year (or late last year) were of the : same evening. :
