I have been re-watching some of the royal documentaries on YouTube and I have discovered a couple of jewel “nuggets” that I thought might interest members of the board.
A new documentary (at least to me) entitled “Queen Elizabeth II – One of the World’s Most Influential Women” was one video I watched.
When speaking about HM’s childhood years, I noticed at around time frame 7:05 what I think may be the earliest instance I can think of HM (as Princess Elizabeth) wearing a brooch.
I cannot determine which brooch – maybe some one has a better eye than me.
Can anyone think of an earlier brooch-wearing event?
Another of the series I have watched again is “Monarchy: The Royal Family at Work”. I have noticed a couple instances where QEII is wearing brooches that we usually see in her “normal” rotation of jewellery. This documentary shows the behind the scenes activities of the monarchy and I think it is safe to say that HM, just like the rest of us, has her daily/casual wardrobe which we do not normally see except for times like these when we get pictures of the non-public activities of The Queen. And naturally, to go along with her casual wardrobe, are some casual jewellery – most notably in this case brooches.
In one vignette, HM is inspecting the state dinning room the afternoon before a state banquet. She is wearing a plain red, unfussy dress. We only get a brief glimpse of the brooch she is wearing – but I do not recognize it as one normally seen on public outings. You can see a brief glimpse at time frame 21:55 on this link.
Another such example is when HM is visiting with he St. John’s Ambulance Brigade before a garden party at Buckingham Palace. Later at the actual garden party, we see that HM has changed her clothes into her “uniform”, but in the pre-party snippet, we get a glimpse of an aquamarine bar brooch that we have not seen at public events.
