If only modern digital photography had been invented when the photos of Queen Alexandra were taken! Re the collier resille photographed in the following sitting. I think that by this time the laurel leaf border at the top and bottom of the necklace had been removed, although the Queen's collet diamond necklace partially obscures the top border. One of the changes which Queen Mary made was to add a second large diamond towards the bottom of the necklace - as can be seen in the detail Baxter posted. Re the Flameng portrait. The style of painting does make identification of the necklace problematic, especially as we are working from photographs. Nevertheless,I think the following enlarged details suggest bows and swags rather than a straight wall of diamonds.
